ENTRY FEES


Pre-registration is $50/one event or $80/two events. Add $15 for event day beach
sign-up. Online registration closed on Fri, 7/19 at 8am.
Register in-person at our Pre-Party on Fri, 8/30 from 6pm to 8pm at Sequoia, OR on event day at the on the boardwalk in front of Washinton Harbours from 7am to 9am. Cash or check, CC okay too. Thank you!!

EVENT FEATURES


5K Fun Paddle (Estimated time: 30-minutes to 45 minutes)

Compete against friends or simply paddle for the pleasure of it. This is a fun race, close to shore and a great chance to experience racing in a low-pressure environment. Every racer gets a finishers medal and the 5K results will be applied to World Paddle Association (WPA) rankings for short course. This is a timed event.


10K Paddle (Estimated time: 1 hour- to 1.5-hours)

Compete against friends or simply paddle for the pleasure of it. This race is for the more seasoned paddler wishing to test their skill, endurance and strategy against paddlers from all over. The 10K results will be applied to World Paddle Association (WPA) rankings for long course. This is a timed event.


Rule 7 event (Estimated time: 45-minutes to 1-hour)

We provide the equipment, you bring the stoke! This is a paddler run and regulated event where the winner takes all. However, we toss in enough equalizers and speed bumps that it can be anyone’s day. Rule 7 = No Whining!

6:00- 8:00 PM Friday, August 30th, 2013: Come enjoy a cold beverage, check-in for the event or just hang out and talk story with others from the paddling world. There will be raffles, drink specials and giveaways all night.



Saturday, August 31st, 2013 - Race Day

Registration – Dockside at Washington Harbour

 

7:00AM Registration Open: Come on down and check in or signup on the docks if you have not
already registered for the races happening today. Registration will be in front of Sequoia
and launch will be at Thompson Boat House.


9:00 AM: 5K / 10K Start

 

11:30 AM: Rule 7 Event Start

1:00 – 4:00PM Awards and After Party: Hosted by our friends atSequoia, come enjoy a Cold Beverage on the waterfront of the Potomac. We will start the awards 30 minutes after the last finisher crosses the line. Music and fun till 4:00 PM.

 

WPA info

 

5K and 10k are Sanctioned by WPA (World Paddle Association) The following age divisions will receive points for rankings to qualify for both Regional and World Championships in both the 5K Paddle and the 10k Paddle for registered WPA Athletes Recognized.

 

WPA divisions for these races include:

a) 17 under on all board classes and gender

b) 18-29 on all board classes and gender

c) 30-39 on all board classes and gender

d) 40-49 on all board classes and gender

e) 50+ on all board classes and gender

WHERE TO STAY

Our partner hotel for the event is the located directly across the host venue on the other side of the Potomac. Enjoy river front room overlooking the race day activities. We will have board storage available at the hotel right off the lobby (same as last year). Call and ask for the “paddlers rate” when making your reservations or book your rooms online.

POINTS OF INTEREST

-The event location is directly in front of theWashington Harbours
-There are plenty of restaurants, stores and attractions within walking distance of event
-Parking is available at paid lots on a first come first serve basis
-The event does not provide reserved or vendor parking
-NO vehicles on grass or dock(pack a cart and bring some extra bodies)
-Easy load in - load out area for before and after race

-NO Alcohol on boardwalk, dock or in loading areas. All beer must remain in
marked area ONLY. Violators are subject to fines and arrest.


Paddle for Humanity is open to Prone/Traditional, SUP, and other Paddlecraft (OC1/2/6, Surfski 1/2, Dory, etc). Awards will be given to the following board classes: SUP Inflatable, SUP Surfboard, SUP 12'6, SUP 14’, SUP Unlimited, SUP Legends 50+ (OPEN), SUP Juniors (OPEN), PB 12', PB 14', PB Unlimited, PB Legends 50+ (OPEN), PB Juniors (OPEN) and OPEN Paddlecraft.
